Today I'm starting birth control pills for the first time, and I've never used any kind of contraceptives other than condoms before. I don't know anybody that's currently on the pill that can give me any advice.

I have this irrational fear of vomiting, and I'm pretty concerned about how sick I'm going to feel when I start taking the pills. Besides eating a meal before taking the pill, what are ways to reduce/eliminate nausea? I'm on microgestin 1.5/30 Fe, if that makes a difference.

Any other tips related to dealing with side effects are much appreciated also.

pretty much the only time you'll have nausea with birth control is if the hormone dose is too high. I had that with the patch, I was getting too much hormones and it was making me sick. I've since switched to the ring and haven't had a problem with nausea since. you might have some nausea the first week or two, but that just could be your body adjusting. if the nausea last more than one cycle, ask your doc about a lower dose pill, and that should take care of it.

I have never had a problem with nausea nor have I hear of it being an issue with birthcontrol pills... other meds yes, like motrin and other pain relievers, but not "The Pill"!
The side effects that I have had were, water retention and weight gain!
