Without your parents consent, it is 18. There is an option called emancipation where your parents legally declare you independent and then you can change your name if your are under 18, as well as move out and be on your own. With your parents permission, you can change your name at any age.

When you are 18, the legal age of majority in the United States. And you have to petition the court to have your name legally changed. Look in the want ad section of your local newspaper and you will likely find an example there. I see 5-6 everyday, but I live in a big city.

18 is the age your refering to. When you turn 18, you are legally no longer a minor so you can go to the courts and ask for your name to be legally changed. Pay the small fee and viola! You can go from john Doe to Tom Cruise

Depends where you are but i think the standard is 18. In most countries you have to be 18 to do anything legal on your own.
