I am in my mid 40's is that too old to go to law school? I would have to borrow money. Will I be "productive" long enough to pay off the debt? Am I too old to be hired by a law firm? I have TONS of life experience will that help? I already have a BS in secondary education so would only need to take LSAT and go to law school.

Thanks for your input.

It is not a matter of your chronological age being too old, 45 is fine. Age is a state of mind.I know someone who at 65 retired. went back to school and got his Phd in Ancient Chinese history at 68 and taught at a University until he was 80. Go for it.
Do you think you have the stamina to work when you are in your 70's? Plenty of people still work in their senior years, especially professionals.Do you really want to do that? I am 55 and I am already tired.I want to slow down and enjoy a simpler life with out stress. but that is me. you may love the challange, the aggravation. Good Luck

I worked in a law library at an urban university for about 9 years. Many of our students were 40 +. I would say "go for it.' You never know unless you try. It's hard work- with the studying and memorizing and preparing for classes. Your J.D. degree will be with you until you die. You can do many things with your J.D.-- family law, estate law, etc. It all depends on where you want to go.

It is true that you may be competing with students younger than yourself. But, employers are looking for more than just "youth." They are looking for reliability, flexibility, and maturity. You, most likely, have that.

Good luck!

You're not 2 old at all. If your passion is 2 be a lawyer or you think that you would love being one than you should go back to school. If you do use a loan, then after your done with school and employed, and making good money then your already prepared to pay that loan back. Also your not to old untill you can't see, in a wheel chair, forget everything after two seconds, and is forced to quit.
GOOD LUCK! :)

i began regulation college at 38, and that i'm now a happy and powerful solo lawyer. So, no, it is not too overdue to start. besides the undeniable fact that... ignore approximately taking area in regulation college. it is beside the point whether you savor it or no longer. What concerns is whether or no longer or no longer having the degree provide you something significant adequate to undergo regulation college. Scott Turow wrote a e book called "One L" approximately his first twelve months of regulation college, this is a rather good image of what it is fairly like. Have some intense talks with some legal experts approximately what being a legal expert is fairly like. it is not like television in any respect, have confidence me on that. edit: via the way... family individuals concerns are significant. there's a sort of "comedian tale" between attorneys approximately regulation college being a time of super sacrifice for the pupil's first spouse.

No, it is never to late to go to law school. If you have dreams about becoming a lawyer then go for it even though it may take years of dedication to get through law school. Besides you can open your own private practice and retire till you no longer can remember the law.

If you are confident, work hard, and get a bit of luck you can do it.

To not hop on the band wagon, I would like to say though it may end up being a lot harder than you expect. Don't think people on yahoo answers can boost your confidence AND abilites.
