If you meant the language then; italian is Italy's official language, sicilian is a dialect spoken in Sicily, which is one of the 2 big islands of Italy. Sicilian has the same base (latin) but varies a lot from the clean italian due to other influences. Difficult to be understood by other italians.

italian =american.. sicilian= type of american like irish,.. black..swedish. who are all americans. sicilians.. are from southern italy.. usually darker..and yes. at one time the only ones that could be Godfather. i do not know if that has changed. and i really do not think dirtier. in europe.. most people's hygiene differ from most of us from america. we use the deodorants..lotions ..soaps... and most believe in women shaving under arms..and legs. i would surmise there are dirty and clean sicilians.. just like americans. also i am sure there are europeans into the hygiene and shaving.

Nothing really. Sicily is an island of the southern coast of Italy and is part of Italy. I guess it goes back to when Italy was a bunch of city states and not a unified country, which didn't happen until the late 1800s. It's kind of like me saying I'm Philadelphian rather than saying I'm American.
