the same way the US military is still mired in house to house fighting in Iraq....underestimating the enemy, and overreliance on technology

I highly doubt that this militia as you put it will bring Israel to its knees. Remember, Israel is doing all of this over the kidnapping of 3 people. The anti-semites of the world would love to see Israel destroyed, but that will not happen. Also, that Arab militia that you speak so kindly of is a very large TERRORIST organization, funded by Iran and Syria.
Why must you and everyone else be so critical. If Iran kidnapped 3 American Soldiers, you would want the country nuked. So why is it any different because it is Israel? Ohhh, I see, because it is a Jewish state.

The Israeli government had assumed that it would be in Hezbolla's interest to keep the conflict as a low profile border dispute, enough to give Hezbolla a reason to exist and to appear as a keeper of the Lebanese interest in Lebanese public opinion. This paradigm went well with the prosperity the north of Israel has enjoyed for the last few years since Israel withdrew from Lebanon. The fact that Lebanon was also enjoying prosperity was a sign that "these people have a lot to lose, they will not go to a higher level of violence". Assuming that, the Israeli government did not invest in intelligence as it should have.
It did not realize how deep the difference is between Lebanon's interests and Hezbolla's interests. Hezbolla is funded and serves as a sub-contractor for Iran, while paying lip service to Lebanese unity. Israel did not realize how much of an Iranian arm the Hezbolla has become.

Your Arab "militia" is financed and equiped by countries that combined in size would by a couple of hundred times the area of Israel.
I didn't know that Israel was brought to its knees. I'd better catch the world news this evening.

Israel is quite the powerhouse when it comes to bombing a civilian population which is essentially unarmed. I have a hard time accepting that this response was warranted for losing 3 kidnapped soldiers. The numbers of rockets fired does not even come close the ordinance they dropped on Beirut alone. Remember Beirut, once a very cosmopolitan city with a large Christian population. Remember them, who recently rallied to throw the Syrian influence out. That is the country the are destroying. This action is unconscionable.

I read the whole news and I do not see Israel being brought down to it's knees. Israel will continue and with even more further aggression.
