Amsterdam and the Netherlands are best known for being extremely bike-friendly. In Amsterdam for example bike lanes are often wider than streets.

Most German cities encourage their citizens to take the bike. In every city, there are bike roads to go anywhere really fast.
The most important thing: car drivers are really conscious of the multitude of bikers everywhere and always watch out for them. It's not dangerous at all to take the bike.
The German bike-friendly law is also enforced quite strictly (safety distances, right of way, ...).
You have to try it in any city of touristic interest!
