To Me the Movie that Really Upped the Ante for Horror Movies still hasnt been beat and that is the original "The Exorcist" Before that seemed like half your scary movies were lame things like Rats attacking or the worms in squirm. I cant remember the name of it but the stupidest I ever saw had Giant Bunnies Terrorizing a Town, LMAO I think I'll go make that my next question :p

Second Posting : Night of the Lupas was the answer my question came up with :-) Have a good day

I think the Exorcist, the original with Linda Blair is the most horrifying horror movie and the best horror movie made so far. I should know that because when I saw it with my family when I was little, my older brother had to have his night light on all night, because he was so scared of this movie. He was in High School at this time.

The 1963 version of "The Haunting", based on and closely following the novel "The Haunting of Hill House". Please don't even watch the new one with Liam Neeson. I like Neeson and Catherine Zeta-Jones, but the movie people changed the story so much that it's just not the same. The old verson stars Claire Bloom and Julie Harris. Really, really scary, although nothing really happens on stage. You need some imagination for this one

Most horrifying? Gotta stick with the classics and say the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Silence of the Lambs. Traditional horror that has ugly creatures and monsters, or killer madmen don't scare me. Then only exceptions would be Alien and Jaws. Now, the special effects look poor, but for their time they were amazingly intense and used suspense more than most contemporary horro flicks.

A big ROFLMAO to "Brokeback" answer.

For me, it was "The Ring". Were you at the theater and saw some guy running out screaming like a little girl? That was me.

OK, so it wasn't quite THAT bad. But I had my ears shut and ears plugged a few times.
