SPECIFICS ONLY.... please. :)

I will be in Costa Rica a couple months from now. I do not want to take my laptop, but need wireless internet access.

I have a cell phone that I love, so I only want a wireless-capable PDA... I do not need or want a PDA that is also a cell phone.

I would like something that will allow me to view PDFs and Word documents, retrieve my email via a wireless Internet connection/signal, and maybe something with upgradeable software.

It should also be able to sync with my Mac - running OS X.

Any ideas?

lindsey: You misunderstood me. I *do* want a PDA, but I want the PDA *only*. Not a PDA/cell combo.

I know that they make PDAs that are not cell phones (like the iPaq - which is somewhat outdated now).... but I need a newer model with WiFi capability.

I would recommend Palm TX. It is awesome PDA. I am using Palm devices for last 5 years. This is my 4th Palm. I am using TX for last 6 months. It has great battery life. Big screen. No wastage of screen area for graffiti. Bluetooth, WiFi. Document to go for reading Ms-office documents. Adobe acrobat for reading PDF. SD card extension slot so virtually infinite space. SD cards are damn cheap now a days. TX has MP3 player too, which is very good quality. It is very reasonally prices. You should get TX for around $225, compare to other Palm PDA.

I would recommend the Palm LifeDrive which has 4GB hard drive, WiFi, Bluetooth, gorgeous large screen, and includes software to create, edit, and view Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. This is a business-quality PDA, and is near a laptop-replacement unit (to a degree, though much slower). I use it to connect to the Internet, and even watch DVDs (with special software I bought). If you plan to type a lot, I would highly recommend buying a wireless keyboard. The LifeDrive is priced at about $399, but you can get it a bit cheaper at eBay. Overall score: 8 out of 10.

i work for verizon wireless data tech support and your options are very limited if you you dont want a pda and dont want to take your laptop. you could use the new razor or if you decide to take your laptop you can purchase a mobile office kit and use your phone as a modem. if you do decide to purchase a pda i suggest the audiovox 6700 or 6600 or samsung i730. we dont get very many calls on those and the calls we do get are set up and configuration.

whats up, have you ever considered getting your son the Nintendo DS Lite? Priced at round £ninety 9 you could play all sorts of video games, from academic to the most troublesome! The DS Lite even permits you to surf the web by using the Opera cartridge. you could play video clips and music on it by using a separate upload-on. in case you somewhat choose a PDA, look into the Argos catalogue. they have a quite sturdy determination. each and each and every of the appropriate, Q&A
