I absolutely love Norman Wisdoms films. I think it's the fact that his comedy is so very innocent, and he can make you laugh without crudeness.

Norman lives in the Isle of Man, which also happens to be my home. I've been very fortunate to meet the man on a couple of occasions and he is just as nice a person as the characters which everyone knows and loves.

Norman Wisdom (born 1915) made many J. Arthur Rank films in the 1950s. They were very popular with English and non-English audiences because of his slapstick humour, his charm, and pleasant singing voice. Still alive in Isle of Man but in fragile health - memorable for reducing Michael Parkinson (and the studio audience) to hysterics when he literally fell about the studio 4 or 5 years ago.

Humour took on a different culture in those days... it was simpler and fresher. Norman Wisdom was of course great at what he did .... and a lovely man to boot. But he was not alone .... there was Arthur Askey, Tommy Cooper, Frankie Howard .... all unique in their own way. But Norman Wisdom did have one big thing about him ..... he always played the fools' fool ..... always tugged at your heart with emotion ........ remember when he sang 'Dont laugh at me' ... I understand that he now has some 70 years of performing behind him so in that respect, he must go down as one of the greatest performers in the 1900s. A real gentleman in every way!

I don't think anyone with any taste could have a bad word to say for the great Norman Wisdom. A comic genius, and still alive, thank God. Not many real talents left now.

Norman Wisdom one of the greatest. He still makes me laugh. Remember Charlie Drake? I wish they would put the old classics back on television - I much prefer them to the gory, violent swearing things they show now

I heard an interview with Rick Wakeman (formerly keyboards with Yes) who also lives in the Isle of Man and he said that he and Norman often play music in their local pub. That's an unlikely gig but one I'd like to see :0)

Probably the best comic of all time!

Much admired and much coppied.

Though I like Lee Evans most of his style is a copy of Norman Wisdom

Still to this day he is the greatest comedian. I have every film on DVD and watch them all the time. My son is 5 months and when he is old enough he will watch them too.

He's great. I like his films they are more innocent and much less cynical than 99% of modern comedy. Just good old fashioned silliness.

best wishes to Sir Norman!!

He was and indeed still is a comic genius. He is also a very accomplished serious actor. As my grandfather always said,it takes a wise man to act the fool,so I guess Norman is very wise indeed.
