BA's BB-K ratio is decent, and his OBP is high.. but he doesn't strike me as a great player or a big RBI guy. Is his defensive skills any good? And how do folks think he will transition over to the American League. Any predictions on Lidle's ERA after his transition to the AL? I am thinking it goes up to about 5.25.

Abreu's a bit past his prime. He hasn't been the same since he won the Home Run Derby. Lidle's not a great pitcher, but he gets by. The Yankees have just thrown alot of money away on this deal. The Phillies are a team that expects to win now and if they're willing to part with guys, then it means that they probably aren't worth it.

Who knows, Lidle's ERA could go down. The Phillies play in the park that is known in fantasy baseball circles as "Coors Field East." If you have any doubts about how much pitching struggles there, just look at Kevin Millwood's last year with the Phillies. Abreu used to be a great player whom nobody knew about. He was a consistant .300 hitter who would hit 30 homers and steal 30 bases and he did just about everything well. Now he doesn't hit as well as he used to and the home runs are gone. The Yankees better set him up for some 1-on-1 with their hitting coach because he has some holes in his swing.

I think the Phillies got off well in this deal because they offloaded alot of money on the Yankees and got some Minor Leaguers in return. But you never know, they might just be Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell.

Abreu is a pure hitter. Phillies screwed up when they signed him to a long term deal for big bucks. They knew when they signed him they couldn't or wouldn't afford him. You have to understand that the Phillies as a franchise could care less about winning. It's all about the profits which has never been fair to the fans. Lidle is okay and will do better with the Yankee lineup behind him. As for Abreu, the Yankees made out big time!!! Phillies fans should boycott the team. What management is telling the fans is that they've given up on the season with 60 odd games remaining in the season. That sucks!!

Abreu is gonna do better no dobt and as for Lidle they may say he is ok but i think he can be better than ok his era is good over the last 3 years for a guy who pitched in citizens bank and great american during that time plus he is use to the al east pitching for the Blue Jays for a year and Tampa Bay for 2 years.

Lidle will be an acceptable back-of -the rotation guy.

If you don't know about Abreu, look at his whole career. He has been one of the best hitters of the last decade.
