I think a fair minimum wage should be dependent on the Cost of Living in each area. Obviously, a city like San Francisco will have a higher minimum wage than a smaller "podunk" town.

How about a fair minimum liveable wage. To meet all your monthly expensee, food, shelter, gas, electricity, heat, etc. I do not know where to go for actual statistics, but people have done research on this. For a single guy/gal to live alone and meet the minimum living expenses the going rate is over $11.00 an hour. I do not have a official source, I wish I did. There was a proposal before the city council here to do just that.

Why not $20 an hour?
Same reason not $7.25 an hour. People will lose jobs. prices will increase.

Minimum wage should be directly tied to the economy. For example, if the cost of living index rises 4.5%, so should the minimum wage.

I think it's about time the increase happened. It's impossible to live on such a meager salary--especially with gas prices the way they are.

It it's an official job where you have to pay taxes and crap it would be more than $7.00. But if it's a job under the table then I would say $5.00/hr.
