ok i breastfed my first baby till she was 2 years old. i had no periods. me and my child's dad had unprotected sex and i never got pregnant. but as soon as i stopped breastfeeding i then came on my period and then got pregnant with my second baby. my second baby just turned 1 year old about 3 months ago. i havnt had any periods. but of of a sudden - i started my period yesterday. whats this mean? im telling myself that its a sign from God that its time 4 me 2 have another baby, but i would also like a logical / medical explination. has any other mom went thru this?

I was married and I breastfed 5 kids exclusively! I went 14 months on average menstruating. It means that your baby is not nursing enough to suppress ovulation, so you are cycling back to normal. It does NOT mean that God sent you a sign. It's a normal, biological process. If you aren't married, it also means that you had better think long and hard about bringing another baby into this world. Are your kids being supported by their father? Does he live with you? The fact that your baby is only 15 months old also means that you need to give your body a break and quit getting pregnant. Space your babies out enough so that you can give the ones that you do have enough time and attention instead of focusing on responding to the call of your hormones! Do you have a high school diploma? If you don't, go back to school and do your children a favor for the rest of their lives and get some job skills. Your babies' daddy may not be in the picture for the rest of your life, and your question reveals a basic lack of life skills. I'm divorced, on my own with 5 kids, homeschooling, working out of my home office and I have a future because I have an education and job skills. I wish people would start thinking about the kids they do have instead of thinking about having more because of some weird idea that they are getting a sign from God! God set up universal laws that can't be ignored, but He does not send signs to have another baby out of the bond of marriage. It totally ignores His stated will in the only owner's manual that you'll ever need. His Word...the Bible. Read it if you want to hear from Him.

Your periods are caused by fluctuations in the hormones LH and FSH, that signal the release of estrogen and progesterone and the LH surge at about 14 days after the start of the previous menses causes ovulation. When you are breast feeding these hormones are also used to signal the production of milk and the development of the breast to this end. Often the milk signals cancel out the menstruation signals, which is why many people say you can't get pregnant while you are breast feeding. This is not always true because the small fluctuations in breast feeding patterns can allow the hormones to change enough to cause ovulation and menstruation even while you are breast feeding. It is a very complex process that does not have a single control and variations like you have experienced are totally normal.
