Why do black people get mad for whites using the "n" word, but they use it all the time?

I'm Black and the obvious reason why we get mad for whites saying the "N" Word is because look at the history between us, to put it in lamens-terms none of us ASKED to be here we never volunteered unlike the rest of the minorities and even white people here, we were sitting back eating zebra in Africa when we were captured us but, to focus more on the "N" word you probably don't understand the difference between ****** and *****.

****** is a word with a negative background to it, it was used as a weapon of hate and fear for more then 200 years and when a person who has a lack of respect/understanding of the word says it it brings back all the negative history associated with it. If you listen no black person ever says "Whats Up ******!" seriously. NOW.

***** is a spin on the word ******, it makes that word which meant something negative and giving it its own positive definition in the BLACK COMMUNITY, although it still has a lingering effect and is controversial, when someone else says that word who is not black or at least is considered "comfortable" by Black definitions (Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Dominicans) the word is turned into an insult.

It's called "reclaiming" a word -- taking an insult and making it into your own word. The "double standard" idea is ridiculous -- if a white person calls a black person a n-----, it's because the white person is racist. If one black person says it to another, they're just being friendly (making the word itself not so evil).

You do it, too -- if your best friend tells you (in a way that doesn't involve screaming) that you're "such a b*****d," you'd probably just roll your eyes. If a random person you see on the street says the same thing, it would probably end with an argument or possibly even a fight. It's all in the context.

Their are many reasons why Black America use the "n" world. For hip hop artist is to promote themselves. the "n" world has now being used for profitable means but above all many black may think that it is our word now and nobody else can use it.

I am an African American and I don't like the use of the "n" word because it is a slap in the face to the ones who fought and died for civil rights and freedom and the "n" word was made to destroy us as a people and today it is holding us back.

ms_chris breezy is an example of want I'm taking about but we can't evolve like that. That is one of the reasons why that we are devolving. All of this is an example of the Black traditions are parents and grandparents knew, getting crushed and destroyed by the entertainment industry and government schools.

It's hard for me to believe that grown-up Americans will allow someone to control their language. Where is it written, that you have to be careful saying something about a person that the person himself says openly.

If you are a ***** and you go around openly calling yourself a "******" so that others can hear you, then others can call you a "******". { I'll be damned. This program itself has been buffalo'ed. It will not write the word "******"}

It's called reclaiming the term. When a word is used to express hatred for a group of people often that group of people begin to use the term to give it less meaning for the people using it originally. Sometimes even making it a "good" word again for themselves. Then it becomes only ok to say if it applies to your group. This is found in most minority groups (homosexuals, african americans... etc). It keeps the majority of people who have privilege from abusing language to cause further discrimination.

You are on the losing end of this battle.... it's just the way it is... just as you feel it is wrong for not being able to say it, others feel you are for wanting to. I don't see why someone would be upset not being able to use it, I can't think of a time when I was sitting around searching for a better word because I am white and can't say it.....lol.

Okay, for the nine millionth time...

1. Some of them do disapprove of this.

2. They are "taking it back". That is, whites took power away from them and created this word to refer to them. They take back that power by using that word and forbidding whites to do so.

3. Blacks can be racist too, so don't give me that stupid argument about 'they call me a cracker'. ANYONE who uses racial slurs is racist. Period.
