Knowing a foreign language is great!

In the ever growing world we live in where people come from all walks of life we need to be able to communicate. No matter where you are from communication is very important.

In many countries you have someone from another who mau not understand the native language. Here in America, where you have people from every other country in the world, we need to have better communication skills.

Being Bi-lingual ( spelled wrong I think) is a skill that a lot of people have. It's something that will make you more successful in life because of the need of translators.

Public agencies are more likely to hirre someone that is bi-lingual because then they can cater to other nationalities. Businesses, corporations, hospitals and just about every where need some one to be albe to communicate effectively with those that don't know English; it's a way of providing excellent customer service.

Think about it. Think of a time when you where some where and some one that didn't understand English was there. Was there some one to translate? Regardless of your answer think about what could have happened. If your answer was yes, think of how smoothly everything went with someone knowing what the other person was saying. If the answer was no, think about how much smoother it would have gone. Not knowing what some one is saying causes frustration on all parts; for the person speaking and the one listening.

In our growing country we need tobe able to talk to one another. How can we do that is we don't have any one that can understand.

Hope that helped!!!

You can take bits & peices ( or all ) if you like.

Good luck!!!

"Research shows that learning a language extends competency in the first language.
It increases students’ understanding of how language works as a system and helps to develop vertical thinking skills, transferable to other learning areas.
Research by Michael Clyne 1995:8 shows that exposure to as little as 1 hour per week in the earliest years of primary school advances the age of reading readiness in English.
Further advantages of second language learning as identified by Makin 1995:38 include:
¨ increased problem solving ability
¨ cognitive flexibility
¨ verbal creativity
¨ greater metalinguistic awareness ” Link one.

"Many people think they are too old to start learning a second language, or that it's not important, but learning a second language can improve your career potential, add to your sense of well-being and promote world peace at any age.
Perhaps the most compelling reason for Americans to learn a second language is the practical edge it can give you in the workplace. From the service industry and education, to the corporate arena and retail, the ability to reach out through language both literally and figuratively is being seen as a valuable work skill in terms of public relations, human resource management and life experience. With so much at stake for employers in these areas, knowing or not knowing a second language could be a deal maker or breaker at the time of hire and promotion." Link three.

It is good to learn more than one language only because it will enable you to communicate better and to understand other cultures. Also usually in most countries people are impressed if you can speak their dialect even though you are not from their country, they respect people who take the time and effort to learn it. If you didn't learn any languages other than english you would still be able to get by just because nowadays most foreign countries make it compulsory to learn english e.g Japan, China, Scandanavian countries etc. So by just knowing english you will be able to get by in most countries but just might have trouble when communicating with some locals in some cases. Although you would more than likely wont be able to travel as much if you have very poor english or dont know how to speak english jusdt because it would be hard for you to communicate with people

As we continue to develop a global economy, those who only speak one language will be at a disadvantage. The rest of the world knows that, and most people in other countries are multilingual; they know two, three, or more languages. America is behind the times by promoting monolinguism.

Well for one part of it most jobs will look past you if you don't speak a second language. It helps you understand different cultures besides your own. The rest you can find in your book. Why would you want to travel and have to have someone translate to you what some hot girl is saying to you. That would destroy the moment. Sorry if you are a girl hot guy.

It will help you significantly in a career. You can start at a higher salary and have more job options and opportunities available to you. If you don't know two languages then you just don't get the benefits and someone else might get picked for the position you applied for because they had the second language and you didn't.

I recommend that you depend on your own feelings (the speech will come off much more genuine and meaningful that way), but I think that just learning a language makes you a much more open-minded person. You will undoubtedly learn about another culture, and you will be forced to see (and hopefully accept) that people live in all different ways.

Well, you can do your own research on google, but one of the most positive things about knowing more than one language is job opportunities, especially if you live in a place with a large population of immigrants. My Spanish teacher a few years back told me about a computer job she applied for, and even though she didn't know a thing about computers, they were willing to pay her six figures because she was bilingual.

Knowing 2 or more languages increases ur logical power. also it increases ur arithmetic questioning skill and logical reasoning.. this all is governed by your more active part of your brain..

Ofcourse we can conclude by this that knowing languages helps growth of brain cells..

Now.. for more....

The skill of knowing languges helps u to understand different cultures and helps u to get adaptive in different social circles....

and ofcourse if u r related to trade , then Voila ... u won't need a translator and thus reduce ur expenditures.... ( ok that was on a light note, but still true)

Being multi-lingual helps you in being more receptive to around the globe problems and thus more able to solve them...

As for the physical part.. how can we forget...

Speaking different languages helps in better development of your tongue and also helps in controlling of your vibes (the things you do unknowingly in terms of your physical movements)..

Knowing more than one language is only important if you want to communicate with the most number of people possible. And communicating with the people you have access to is only important if you want to:

sell things
help sick people
learn from people
teach people
influence people
lead people
show love to people
change people's minds about things
ask people for information
tell people about important facts they need to know
entertain people
help people in an emergency situation

If you don't want to do any of these things for the greatest number of people that you possibly can, then knowing more than one language isn't important.
