Does the "Las Meninas" composition seem unified or not?

No. It seems a bit disorganized really. Like Velasquez (sp?) couldn't decide whether to paint a picture of royalty, himself or munchkins.

I think it seems unified. He deals the space in a very particular way. Remember that you're in the middle of the scene for the first time as an espectator. The mirror in the background shows you the models (King and queen) that are supposed to be behind you !!! You're surrounded by the scene !!! IMPOSSIBLE
