Well, it obviously doesn't necessarily come out of the TV you watched the tape on, and Samara moves pretty darn fast, so who says that she has to come out of the *nearest* TV? Maybe your neighbor has a 50-inch plasma that's more to her liking.

I don't think it would make a difference. In the first one when the girl at the beginning died (and Naomi Watts began investigating) She found out that two of the other kids that had watched the movie at the cabin died in a car accident at the same exact moment the girl died from the TV incident. So apparently, you'll die no matter where you are.
