House seems to be winning which makes sense. But why do I see very expensive cars parked outside ugly, run-down houses?

The home. The home is for life, but a car is sadly temporary (real temporary). Your ex can totally destroy your car in an instant (and he did -- he punched through the windows and kicked in the sides and doors (of my MBZ) and another car) as punishment for me being a survivor and being confident as a single (divorced) woman.

A NICE HOUSE,because the car will get all old and rusty after 3 to 5 years, plus a nice place to live is much better.

A house! Chances are it'll appreciate in value. Cars always depreciate in value. Also a house can't be totalled in a split second... You can refinance a house and pull out some equity, TAX FREE!

A house can be made a home. I don't think people dream of their dream home as being a car...

House. I don't need another house, but I could sell the new one and use the money to buy more land to grow bigger orchards and farms on. I might try raising horses and pack animals, so that I'd have a ready business after fossil fuels are depleted.

I'd like a really nice house because that's where I spend most of my time, and if it's really nice, it will have a garage that I can hide my ugly old car in!

A nice house it goes up in value a car depreciates in value. If you buy a new car it goes down in value as soon as you drive it off the lot. It is now considered used.
