Well, try to clip just a bit off at a time so you don't make it bleed in the first place, for starters. Secondly, I would go to a drug store and pick up some styptic powder (silver nitrate, quickstop, etc) just in case. If you're going to do it anyway, just get a tissue and apply pressure til it stops bleeding. You can also use a file to file the ends of the nails and blunt them rather than trying to clip them yourself. Also, most vets will offer nail clippings for $15 or less if you have troublel Good luck!

There shouldn't be any bleeding. A fingernail buffer is the best way to shorten nails. Just apply to the nail only, don't let it slip and hit it anywhere. If there is blood, then you have cut too short. They will bleed a lot. That is why I went to a buffer. I bought a conair one with a small metal wheel, battery operatd, and it was only $2.00 at Big Lots. Wal-mart carrys a more expensive, but better one. They will last forever, so the investment is worth it. My iguanas are very still for their manicures. They will try to rub their backs on the back end of it because it vibrates and it sooths them.

My dogs is an identical way.. and truthfully i'm terrified too. I hate hurting her, so I hesitate and would't do it straight away, meaning this is greater painful. i in my view advise a dremel gadget. while they get use to it this is much less painful, risk-free and it gets nearer to the fast. do exactly no longer press hard with the dremel and make certain which you do raise it off the nail ever so frequently so it does not reason a ton of friction, or the nail can overheat and harm the dogs. i like dremels too because you get a touch a warning. as quickly as you grind the nail down adequate the dogs will jerk their paw away because you're too close to to the fast. So no blood and no discomfort. yet with nail clippers you do no longer comprehend in case you have harm the dogs or have shrink the fast till you have already accomplished so. you will get some inexpensive dremels for in basic terms $30.. especially plenty an identical value as a number of the better end dogs clippers. truly they are the best comparable ingredient as a the ingredient talked approximately as pedipaws... different than they artwork a ton greater advantageous. Pedipaws is vulnerable and that i hate the guard on it - makes it harder to verify what you're doing. a perfect dremel you will desire to purchase on amazon or in any ironmongery shop could be plenty greater precise and would get the activity accomplished plenty speedier.
