What principles of design are used to organize the composition "Las Meninas" ?

This sounds like an essay question so I'm not going to answer it for you completely, but take a look at all of the repeating shapes--particularly triangles and rectangles (look for them in hidden places--the little princess is basically a triangle, the triangle in the frame on the bottom left). Also look at the composition as a whole, not just at its individual elements. There are very strong directionals in this composition also. Just look at the painting for a few minutes straight...notice how your eye moves about the page. Look at the balance of light, dark and medium values on the page. Squint. Stare at it for a few minutes. Tons of stuff will come to you!
