Please follow this path to get rid of pop up related problems. U will hv to do two things. First Tools > inernet options> privacy > check the box of block pop ups > move the slide bar to medium high> ok. Second Tools> pop up blocker > pop up blocker settings> Set the filter level to high> ok. U will get rid of all the pop ups permanently.

Pop-ups come from 2 sources.
1. They are generated by malware software which is installed on your own computer usually without your knowledge or consent. Removing from your computer all: spyware, adware, trojan horses, and virus' will usually take care of these type.

2. Some are generated by websites that you visit. Basically just a form of very annoying advertising. These are the type that popup blockers such as Yahoo's toolbar are most effective againest.

Just a couple or so short years ago... most people used a firewall and an anti-virus and they were cool. In todays internet one needs to add an ad/spyware solution or 3! And a anti trojan helps too.

Here's some to get you started:

1. Scan for virus and remove (free online scan) with BitDefender

2. Scan for trojans and remove (free online scan) with Ewido

3. Scan for ad/spyware and remove (free download) with Spybot Search & Destroy

Check for spyware
Run both Ad-aware and Spybot Seek&Destroy. You can get them both free from download.com. As they use different list to decide what is spyware, one may get something the other misses.

Then install Microsft Defender from microsoft.com to help prevent future infections.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

firefox can edit which site/popup to block and unblock.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
