No, at least not in America.

Not all libertarians or Libertarian party members are anarchists or hippies. In the United States, a libertarian generally refers to someone who wants to greatly limit and restrict government, not eliminate it completely. These people range from near anarchists to what might be considered strict Constitutionalists.

Personality wise, not all libertarians are hippies. In fact, I would say that the majority are not. Many libertarians are actually quite the opposite- clean cut business people with traditional families. Most live their lives like every other person, and only differ in their political beliefs.

In other parts of the world, a "libertarian" is often more closely associated with a socialist-anarchist. This is someone who believes people should live cooperatively without a state (as we know it). These people might be more accurately described as anarchists and hippies.

I'm not sure if you are talking about Liberals. Libertarians are for smaller government but are not anarchists or hippies.

Do you mean Liberals? Libertarians are usually moderate, but they tend to vote Republican. That party usually calls the other party hippies.

Actually, most libertarians are corporate "Doctor Evil" types, who want to destroy all regulation of laws, so that they can end workman's comp, fair hiring practices, monopoly laws, etc. Ending drug laws, and stopping taxes are just the smokescreen they use to appeal to the masses.
