I must admit there are times when questions like this particular one gives me pause, or even shock. But with that said, I would tell you that gifts are not the tickets for happiness. Truth, caring, and understanding are quality traits that will pave a smooth road to happiness.

validate her when shes talking.. its the number one thing women want. Example: she says, "I'd like to change my job". You say, "that sounds like a good idea if thats what will make you happy".
She says, "Does my cooking taste good?" You say, "yes it is great".
Psychologists found that the number one reason women are not happy in a relationship is because the man they are involved with does not validate the little things about them. It isn't that the men don't care about the women, they just don't realize that that is what one of the most important things to them is.

Just ask her what she wants from you and how you can make her happy. Believe it or not, all most women want is to know that you're listening and trying to satisfy us. We realize you're not perfect and you never will be, but we appreciate the effort just the same. :)

A good relationship takes hard, honest work. It will fluctuate, and the amount of energy you put in to it will define how fulfilling it can be. Be happy to put in an honest day's work to see it grow, and most importantly be proud of your contributions regardless the outcome.

Don't take this as sarcastic -- but treat her like a person, one who has thoughts, a mind, and can live without you just as easily as with you. Do NOT ever abuse her or treat her with disrespect. And do NOT force yourself on her. It must be mutual to be a relationship and it must be balanced. Anything less is NOT a relationship.
