I am an independent Conservative. I registered Democrat in the last election. I do not agree 100% with President Bush and the Republican majority. Honestly, I find many of todays Republicans too Moderate or Liberal, and weak for my tastes. I also think that the Democratic party in no longer what it used to be. I find that both partys are dominated by Liberal extremists or spineless Moderates. Why then, when I ask a question from a Conservative point of view, do many people, without thinking, call me a stupid or deluded Republican? I do not assert differences with the Democrat party because I know Conservative Democrats. Nor do I consider myself in disagreement with all Liberals. I have found common ground with many Liberals on certain issues. My beef is with the Liberal extremists in both (all) parties. I know a lot of Liberal Republicans.

To have only ridged ideas that do not connect in any conceptual fashion is to have no workable principles.
I have read and responded to you on more than one occasion, and what I hear is a preacher looking for an audience.
The essence of a Democrat is the acceptance that life is not simple and it has contradictions embedded in it. Remember, to be sane one must be able to hold several contradictions at once without being crazy, enraged or despondent.

Personally, I don't think the common citizen knows anything about politics. There is no longer any difference between Dems and Reps. Both parties work for rich special interest groups, because they are the ones who contributed money to their election.

That's why you should dump labels. Join the Independents. Better yet join the Pirate Party. This two party system needs to go, just like Bush needs to go.

I think you are confused, conservatives are a step back and liberals a step forward. Thus if you identify as a conservative then you must belong to the repuglican party.
