They walk out there and put them on and then they walk off. They are usually for chemical treatments fertilizer/bug care. It is just saying to avoid possible contamination/damage to you or clothing.

It's easy to put the sign on the grass because the sign isn't there when they are going, how do they get back after the sign is there.

A helicopter hovers overhead while they lower a guy down on a rope where they want the sign to be... then he just hangs upside down and hammers it in.

Seriously those are Javelin Signs. It's one of the few jobs that olympic javelin medalists from yesteryear contests can find after the expiration of their athletic careers. They also get those sea buoys out there in the reefs to warn water craft.
