It's really weird that some people find clowns scary. Hope they never meet Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Cinderella, Bugs Bunny, God forbid the Seven Dwarfs, Superman, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Incredible Hulk, Minnie Mouse, Mr. MaGoo, The Three Stooges, Wonder Woman, Spiderman. Picture this: a party with all of these characters and people with a clown phobia. What a riot!!

I dunno why people find clowns to be scary... they are strange yes, but not scary. The only clown I've ever been terrified over was the one in that Stephen King movie " It "... now that is an absolutely scary clown!!! But other than that, people should have no reason to be afraid of clowns. Then again, people are afraid of mimes too... and I don't see what on earth is so scary about them?! They are totally funny to watch... like those old black & white silent movies... you watch them doing funny stuff, and you can add your own dialogue to everything.

Gee - you are so right. I am afraid of clowns, and puppets with faces too. Shop dummies as well. Scare the shits out of me. You never know what is behind their faces. Also I find clowns so ugly. the way they laugh is so hysterical and frightening. The bald head and the red frizzy hair is disgusting too.

Because The Simpsons started a cultural revolution: "Can't sleep...Clown will eat me..." thus popularizing the phobia for a few people who don't really have it.
People who actually have clouraphobia are probably intimidated by the bold makeup and colorful (and might I add, sexylicious) wigs that hide their identity.

I was just thinking of that the other day. I think its a fear that starts in childhood and is never resolved. Almost all small children find them scary.

Well for one thing, it doesn't help, making horror movies about clowns! Personally I never found clowns to be funny!

I'm terrified of them even before I saw "IT" even tho that didn't help. There's just something creepy about them.

i think it's out of disgust... some people find clowns really disturbing and it might grow to the extent of fear. i don't know. it's a thought.

I do I was scared by one as a kid and evry time I see one I walk away and stay away.........I once got followed by one It was trying to be friendly supposedly but I was creeped out ..........it stressful and I am also afraid of People in costumes..........Like the ones for kids..............
