The pros of anal sex are:
--No risk of pregnancy (that's the big pro)
--Sexual activity won't be stopped by the woman's period (if either partner is squeamish about that sort of thing)
--Intense sensation (the woman gets the sensation of being completely filled; the man gets the sensation of increased tightness and heat)
--It's something different.
The cons are:
--There is a greater risk of bodily injury. The anus and the rectum are not desiged for sexual activity, so you have to have lots of lube (the rectum does not produce lubrication like the vagina does), or the tissues of the anus and rectum can tear easily (the tears are microscopic). Since the anus can be difficult to enter, the skin of the penis can experience tearing if you don't have enough lubrication.
--Spreading of disease. Since the anus, rectum, and penile skin have a tendency of tearing, bacteria and viruses have a free pass into each other's bodies. This is why the AIDS virus spread so easily between homosexual men in the 1980's.
--Cleanliness. Since you are dealing with the body part that produces feces (poop), you may get some feces covering your penis when you withdraw (if you or your partner are squeamish about menstrual blood, imagine having your penis covered in poop).
--Pain. Since the anus and rectum were not made to stretch to accomodate a penis, your girlfriend might experience intense pain, even with tons of lubrication.

my boyfriend wants to and I'm open to a lot of stuff but I feel like this could cause life long problems if I am not compatible with anal sex

LUBRICATION LUBRICATION LUBRICATION and take things slowly. Whatever you may hear or read, there are absolutely no dangers so long as you don't do anything to hard or extreme to start with. She also needs to be very relaxed and totally comfortable with the idea. If it hurts either of you in any way, STOP

Use the right hole. The purpose of the anus is to allow the passage of feces. If you have any skin cuts in your penis, the crap in he anus could cause severe infection. If after anal sex she give you the ********, she's gonna have **** in her mouth and then you kiss her and have **** in your mouth.

take it slow and dont sneak up on her. give her some warning on what you are about to do. It is not that bad but can hurt the first couple of times.

yeah...get lots of lube...take it slow, and if she is in anypain at all...stop...then keep going....just go really slow...and make sure you both are in the mood for it....and make sure your girlfriend is relaxed....
