There is no such thing as a hobby that does not involve money on some level. Even puzzles are very time consuming but you have to buy them.
You can try builing bird houses or model cars or model airplanes but that all involves money on some basis as you have to buy the material.
Unless someone gives it to you.
In a few months try building a snow fort. That would be completly money free.

If you like the out doors, try wild mushroom hunting.I bet you never noticed how many mushrooms are in the woods,or in your yard. There are plenty. There are over 40,000 in North America alone and 1 million world wide. It's free, interesting, fun, and you can get books on wild mushrooms at your local library. There are mushroom clubs in every state that are very inexpensive or free to join. It's also a great way to meet people, and learn a very interesting and unusual hobby.

okay... well as someone else said, everything costs money... have you ever heard of geocaching? its basically treasure hunting... I have just recently been introduced to it and its a blast. there are sites all over hte world, people hide things and you find them and move them to other locations. check out the website, www.geocaching.com and see waht its about... I am totally hooked... its an excuse to go places and a have a "mission" the catch is, this is all done with the use of a GPS, fortunately I met someone who has a GPS and is willing to let me go along for the walks. some people will establish teams and go as a group... good luck!!

Have you tried recycling stuff into art? Re-inventing old items into new functional items! My latest is an old armoir (spelling?) computer desk into an entertainment center. Looks cool and nowbody else has one like it! I like to take old picture frames and turn them into trays.
But I have to ask what the heck is nailing scarves.

How about making art pieces from things you find in nature. collages of leaves, moss, rocks, etc. I'm being serious, btw, not silly.
