You gotta have butter on your toast man!

Butter on the toast is a must. I also stir hot pepper sauce into the beans or sprinkle with black pepper or paprika. Try a couple of drops of Worcester Sauce as an alternative. Sometimes it grated cheese over it and put it under the grill to melt it. You can also put a fried egg on top or on a second slice.. Try spreading a little Marmite on the bread before you put the beans on.

Try melting the butter into the beans (with loads of black pepper) and then putting in on your toast

No. I put a little bit of water in the tin to swish out the rest of the sauce clinging to the sides. This makes it a bit thinner and it soaks into the bread. Beans on toast is supposed to be a perfectly balanced meal and it's cheap and tasty too.

Butter is full of fat. It turns the high fiber wheat bread to unhealthy food. The beans will give you protein and added fiber.

Want good toast? Sugar free Strawberry jelly is awesome.

The butter is imperative, not only for the sheer luxurious creaminess off it but it also acts as 'waterproofing' to keep your toast from going unduly soggy; thus also keeping the essence of the toast.
