Well pretty much the same thing happened to me, I'm 17 as well and have gained quite abit. What I believed happened is that the body especially our body's at our age conserve so many more calories. And yeah I love food. I do get out and run/walk here and there and excercise, what not, but i am losing weight in fat, but gaining even more in muscle. And really there is nothing wrong with your weight especially sinse your comfortable with it. You'll find you can still be perfectly active without being tired from being bigger, and you can still be healthy. For now don't worry about it to much, still have time till your body settles in. Hope that helped.

My son is 6'3+ and over 200 lbs -- and if your parents and doctor are a little worried -- then please listen a little --
It should not matter what size you are -- and my son (he will be 19 shortly) also has an over 40 waistline. He gets out and moves around, enjoys outdoor activities, and is NOT what one would consider a couch potato -- it is just his body's metabolism is slower than his younger sister's (or my own).
So just be comfortable as you are -- get involved in something around your school (is there a JROTC program at your school -- they exercise and have fun doing it!), in after school activities, or community activities. Be comfortable in your clothes, and remember -- you are STILL growing!
PS -- Just try to eat a little healthy too -- some salads, some fish, and some broiling or grilling without all those fatty dressings. I did this with my own teen son (encouraged his healthy eating habits), and he does like mixed salads a lot as an alternative to those fatty pizzas.

You might develop an illness, it's really not healthy. Has something happened to you to make you sad? Are you trying to fill a void with food? Once food controls you it is so hard to break the habit. I wish that I could help you more.

Being comfortable with your body is great. However, you should also be concerned with the potential health problems caused by being overweight. Also, no girls want to go out with a fat boy.

Lose weight or risk getting diabetes, angina, stroke etc. You are too young to be a blob, and you might like being that size, but you might find your body letting you down in other ways if you don't wise up.

Change your lifestyle to something more active and healthy.
Go take Muay Tai classes twice a week and watch what you eat.
That will get you fit in no time.

well, if you don't mind bein a lil big then there's not really any problem. you don't have to do anything. however, if your doctor is concerned about it, you may wanna try and lose a few extra pounds then ask your doctor about it.
