Excellent point!!!! I have been pointing that out for awhile in my answers and the media (most notably MSNBC) has been emphasizing it for even longer than that! Also, there are a lot of programs for computers that parents can buy that will keep children away from certain contents and sites.
I also think that if a lot of parents took the time and searched their childrens' hard drive they would probably be shocked and the might find out that their children are the ones posting a lot of the obscene and racist content.
Being a parent is a hard job and supervising children on the internet is just one of those difficult tasks that they must do. If they don't want to do it, don't have kids.

The TOS states that minors use this site with their parents permission, and that parents are responsible for ensuring that the content their children might be exposed to satisfies their standards. The /same/ TOS states that people who use the site (and this is the part that is YOUR responsibility,) do
"not use the Service to:
upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable."
SO there is a shared responsibility.
On to your question:
The people sending you email reminding you minors use this site hope that their message will cause you to filter YOUR content, which for them meets the definition of objectionable content, outlined above.
My personal opinion is that the content of this site shouldn't get more explicit than R, which is "no minors without parent accompaniement." If your content is X or NC-17, you're probably straying over the implied spirit of the TOS.

I'm sick of being side lined for kids and young people. If 18 you should be on here, then parents need to keep their kids off. Give us real adults some space please!
I am not posting stuff that would cause harm or upset to minors, I just want to be able to do my thing without having to protect kids that parents should be protecting.

Because it's PUBLIC arena! That's why! If you were truly an adult you would understand that. So, if that's the kind of message board you want try going there.

Why do you find it necessary to post adult content on a general question and answer site?
