Does the U.S. really have enough say to tell Israel to stop.

Good question. If you get an answer that is valid, let me know.

It has to be remembered that Israel was our main allies in the Middle East when the majority of Arab nations were sided with the Soviet Union. It also has to be remembered that the Soviets oppressed the Christians and the Jews, but gave Islam free reign. Also while the Arabs say they were there first, there has been a Jewish presence when Israel is not going back to antiquity, and while Rome did scatter the Jews, even after 73 C.E. there remained a Jewish presence there. The Arabs want to deny this, but it has been proved via archaeological findings. The Arabs are NOT innocent in this at all, they are not Victims at all. Jordan was created by the Arabs to prevent Palestine from being located there. All of this anti-Jews, and US nonsense is Arab propaganda.

It also has to be noted that we have never supported Israel with by putting our troops into their war. This is not the same for the Arabs. We have put our troops on the ground to keep them out of the fire.

Everything Nina said answers your question, but I would just like to add this...

Of course the US can stop Israel. Israel is nothing without the US's support, weapons and money. We send more monetary aid to Israel than any other country - and it comes from the American taxpayers.

If you want to know why we don't stop them - it's because they are our military presence in the middle east. A region that the current administration wants to completely control because of oil. Oil is power and money. If we control Oil then we control other countries' abilities to wage war - among other things.

The real question is this: Is the US influencing Israel, or is Israel influencing the US? Their agenda and the current Bush administration's agenda seems to be one and the same. It's painfully obvious that Israel controls our government - through their lobby, AIPAC. They've also infiltrated our government - many of their biggest supporters hold very powerful positions in the US.

- Simply stop vetoeing UN resolutions against Israel.
- Stop giving the green light to Israel to conduct their genocide.
- Stop sending weapons to Israel paid for by the US citizens tax payers' money.
-Take the same stand with Israel when it doesn't comply to UN resolutions likewise the stand taken against other countries when they don't comply.
- Stop making false excuses for Israel to cover up for their actions, genocide and ethnic cleansing.
- Stop parroting Israeli lies.
- Show both sides (and not the Israeli side) to the US citizens so they can know the truth.
- Simply stop the double standard method the US applies when it comes to Israel versus other nations.

I hate the way we butt in to every other country's business, but I do believe its the UN that sets the stage for it. The UN is like the international police for governments, and the US and England are the most powerful nations in the UN, creating the illusion that the US is the one causing all of the butting in.

However, GW DOES like to stick his nose in everyone elses business while ignoring the pain and suffering of his own citizens, (ie. he was on vacation during the hurricanes)

Israel has no say. And Israel has every right to attack. They have been bombed and bombed by Hezzbollah while Lebanon allows it. They have a right to defend their country and their people.

We might ask, but the US is in agreement.
I really think Israel is on a mission and will do as they please.
I am sick of peoples remarks about us getting involved after all the complaining about us being in Iraq.
This answer is not directed at you as I understand what you mean.

Why would the US want Israel to stop defending itself? Do you just want Israeli soldiers to sit back and watch terrorist organizations blow up their children?

Probably a little, but how would you like it if someone attacked you...you counterattacked, but you still got blamed.

My cousin used to do this to me all the time. He would hit me, I would hit back and _I_ would get in trouble.

Israel is a sovereign state.

Why should America do anything to help anyone, since most nations seem to complain, whine, and hate the USA and it's citizens.
