With 4 hrs left to answer I must say that the various answers offered are evidence of the diversity of opinions that even scientists and philosophers have about this matter. It's pretty much non-resolvable with present knowledge, but some people have good ideas of how to start looking at it. I'll let it go to a vote with the understanding that the answer chosen "best" by the community should be understood as the most popular but not necessarily the most accurate or useful overall. Thanks... to all who gave it their legitimate effort.

The artificial solution is near. Soon scientists will be able to recreate or better yet capture human consciousness in virtual reality space. With that said and done does that mean even our consciousness can be artificially recreated? Or is it just a copy cat.?
The funny thing is though even if humans are successful in this project it still would not answer the question “What is human consciousness?”
I do believe that there is something else involved other than…well you know, all the technical stuff.
Sorry, I cannot answer your question.
I'm not even sure if it will be answered at time of death.

Judging by your nickname, I bet you're looking for answers about something like the "collective unconscious" that Jung described. That, simply put, is the idea that we're all living in the same world and we all have the same hopes and fears, desires, sadnesses, happinesses, etc. But all of that happens under the surface, without us knowing about it.
Consciousness is just the ability to "know," in other words, to think about thinking. If you're able to talk to yourself in your head, like, "Hey, I'm hungry, I should get something to eat," then you are conscious. I guess maybe by human consciousness you mean something like a conscious connection between all of us. We all read the news, we all want a nice car, we have to eat and sleep, so maybe our thoughts aren't so different overall.
Does that help? Good luck.

Quotes by Manuel Schoch
Consciousness, as a process, is a feeling of observation and total observation is the ending of consciousness, when the observer and the observed melt.
Consciousness is a change in observation
The difference between observation and awareness is that observation does not involve "Time" and awareness involves "Time"
Awareness follows observation
Observation is there, even when asleep, it never stops

It's the awareness of the self as flesh and blood, as girl, as lover/mother/father etc.
Knowing that we exist, knowing that we think. The ability to decide before taking actions. The ability make choices. Feeling and knowing that we felt.

I think it means being aware of everything around you. Being aware of not only your own needs and feelings, but understanding the needs and feelings of others as well. I think it's a gift that very few people today possess.

Really want to know?...Consciousness is your self awareness. It is your mind making sense of what's in your brain. Our brains are simply a container of previously perceived data, taken in from all our senses. Our Mind is the data linked together to form neural nets. Our consciousness is the synergistic effect of all of it working together to produce awareness. There is your answer.
