I learned from my mom to use white karo syrup-1 tablsp. to 6-8 oz of formula. It works. If the baby has been this way for a day or so try this. Lay the baby on his back.Take the diaper off but leave it under him! Use a rectal thermometer and coat it well with vaseline(petroleum jelly).Gently slide it into his rectum and only about 3/4 of the thermometers length while holding his feet and legs up with your other hand. The poop will push the thermometer out! It stimulates the bowels and works fast. The poop will look like a play dough machine pushing out the dough. If this doesn't work try again in a few min. If it still desn't work there may be a bigger problem and he needs to see a dr soon as possible. You can also rub gently on his lower back at the base of the spine when he starts having problems. It stimulates also.Mothers milk naturally helps . If you have a formula with iron added, you will probably need to change it because it is too much for him. Or you can add the white Karo every 4th - 6th bottle to help him go.Best wishes and I hope this helped.

They have prune juice and apple juice by Gerber, try some of that. Lots of water too. Try moving your babies legs in a circular motion like an excercise...it could help with the pressure and she might just release a little bit with some help. My friend used to have to massage her son's tummy and other area as suggestion from the doctor. Goodluck.

Yes, and be ready for some really really bad poop!! If the prune juice does not work, try white grape juice or apple juice. It's going to run right through her, so have lots of baby wipes on hand!

She is too young for solids. Don't give her anything other than breastmilk and formula! Her system isn't ready to digest anything else. Offering her anything else this early will increase her chances of allergies, diabetes and other life-long problems.
Talk to your doctor about switching to a low-iron formula or consider relactating.

one thing i cant handle is when people suggest sugar in water...or syrup..or what ever that drives me nuts....sugar water is the worst thing you can do....before you start giving all types of crap to your baby no pun intended try helping her poo...because its just a matter of her tummy getting used to the formula....take her feet and hold them together and move then around in a circular motion towards the tummy....then rub her lower tummy as well when you think she is trying to go....baby prune juice would be a good step as well...to soften the stool...and well if worse comes to worse and nothing is helping ...baby suppositories....hope she feels better!
