if he/she's not smoking that much..its hard to tell...but even though its invading privacy, i say go check his/her room...look for weed, or a pipe, or sumthing. and when they come home, notice the smell.

Take him to the hospital and have a urine test done.
As for the young lady who claims marijuana is not bad girl you have a lot of growing up to do. It does not matter what kind of drugs, any responsible parent do not want their child doing it OK.

WHY DO PARENTS CARE SO MUCH IF THEIR KID SMOKES WEED? WEED DOESNT HAVE THE LONG TERM EFFECTS THAT TOBACCO OR EVEN ALCOHOL DOES. IT JUST DAZES THE BRAIN FOR A LITTLE BIT, UNTIL THE HIGH WEARS OFF. ITS BEEN MEDICALLY PROVEN THAT TOBACCO AND OR LIQUOR IS WAY WORSE THAN GREEN. THIS IS INSANE. IF IT WERENT ILLEGAL I BET NO ONE WOULD EVEN CARE. PEOPLE MAKE TOO BIG OF A DEAL ABOUT THIS. IT DOESNT EVEN BURN UP UR BRAIN CELLS LIKE ACID OR SNIFFING GASOLINE. UR NOT GONNA SMELL ANYTHING!!! KIDS ARENT SO DUMB THAT THEYRE GONNA POP THRU THE DOOR SMELLN LIKE WEED. BESIDES...THE SMELL DOESNT STAY N FABRIC LIKE TOBACCO DOES. WHY DONT YOU JUST ASK HIM IF HE DOES IT? AND DONT MURDER THE KID IF HE ADMITS TO IT. JUST TELL HIM U DONT WANT HIM DOING IT AND GIVE A GOOD REASON. KIDS ARE MORE LIKELY TO LISTIN IF U DONT JUST GO UH BC I SAID NOT TO DO IT! THAT MAKES THEM WNNA DO IT EVEN MORE. AND DONT GROUND HIM FOR YEARS EITHER. URH. I CANT WAIT TIL IM A PARENT...

Eyes are always red, eats right when he gets in, gets home late, smells like it, tries to wear cologne to cover it up, uses Visine.

. Observe your child's relationships. Have relations deteriorated? Does your child have a new group of friends?
2. Take note of changes in your child's eating and/or sleeping habits, and look for signs of depression or withdrawal.
3. Notice if your child has suddenly lost interest in his or her favorite activities.
4. Be wary of irregular school attendance or a slip in your child's grades.
5. Note any increased hostility in your child's behavior.
6. Check to see if your child has become more careless about grooming.
7. Pay attention to clues around the house. Has money been disappearing? Be sure to note the presence of small medicine bottles, eyedrops or butane lighters in the house, as well as more obvious items such as homemade pipes and bongs made from soda cans or plastic beverage containers.
1. Ask your child what has been going on, both in school and out, and explore what could be going on in his or her emotional or social life that might be causing drug use.
2. Show your love for your child by being firm and enforcing whatever discipline you have established for breaking house rules.
3. Work together to come up with ways that your child can avoid using drugs and alcohol in the future.
4. Discuss possible ways that your child could regain the family's trust, such as calling in, spending evenings at home and raising school grades.
Tips:
Wait to confront your child when he or she is sober and you are calm.
Express your suspicions openly, but avoid direct accusations.
Avoid denial or self-blame. The truth is that drug abuse can occur in families of any socioeconomic background, and in both happy and unhappy homes.
The faster you act, the faster you can help your child on the road to recovery.
If your child is reluctant to talk to you, seek outside help: the school guidance counselor, the family physician or a local drug treatment referral center. They may be able to get a better response from your child.

Test them for it. However, since urine tests aren't very reliable if done even a week after their dose (believe me, I know), try hair tests, as they are the most reliable. Also, look to see if after a night out with friends, your child is drinking a lot of water for a few days. This is the way to make marijuana residue wash out of your urine faster.

Teens and drugs by
Urine and hair tests are not very accurate. Hair tests cannot tell you if your child has been smoking, it can tell you if your child has been around or exposed to it. Urine tests can easily be beaten by drinking plenty of water or taking a simple pill. The only way to truly catch your teen is by catching them doing it or by finding the substance itself.
Are there things disappearing around the house? such as: soda cans, lightbulbs, tin foil, wrench sockets? These can, and most likely are, being used to smoke pot. If your kids are doing marijuana, it might not be such a bad thing as most parents think. Besides its being illegal, it does help with stress and kids that have a hard time focusing; like kids with ADD find it a lot easier to focus.
I recently started smoking pot. I was a failing student about to get kicked out of school for fighting and all kinds of stuff. But now I'm at the top of my class. Weed really helped me focus and I worked harder than every one at my school.
Here's a tip: when you do catch your kids doing drugs, don't freak out. It makes them mad, and I can tell you this; when you make a teen mad the one thing on their mind is to get even. So take it easy on your kids, OK

red eyes, look for pesonallity changes. check their room for paraphanilia, their garbage for empty baggies. do they burn incense? you can smell it on their clothes. usually theres a big attitude change and they will be defensive about anything to do with the herb. if thats the worst thing they do, youll be lucky.
