I Think X-men will remain a trilogy, as the title suggest that Xmen 3 : The Last Stand, was the culmination of the popular movie saga, but you know what they are like with successful franchises, they exhausted them: (i.e jurassic park 4 apparently on the way and there is a home alone 5 for pete's sake) - and as for Spiderman 4, it can only be considered after Spiderman 3, which isn't even out yet and is coming out 2007 - also the return of Superman is threatening to encroach on that line where they exhaust a franchise - the fact that superman has a son in the movie (sorry if you have not seen it and I spoiled it) Leaves a possibility for their to be many more modern superman movies.

But recent trends such as Daredevil Movies (likely to be a part 2) and the Hulk Movie (also likely to be a sequal) and the Fantastic 4 - indicate that people are focusing very much on turning marvel comic heroes into movies, so you can expect something from other popular heroes like iron man and captain america - etc...Its as endless as the prolific imagination of the comic strip writers - There will most definitely be more superhero movies in the future.

Nothing's set in stone yet, but many of those involved say that the door is open to more X-Men and Spider-Man movies beyond three films. As for other superhero films, Ghost Rider is coming out soon, and movies are in development for Magneto, Wolverine, Captain America, Black Panther, Nick Fury, Iron Man, and Thor. On the DC side...I'm not aware of any beyond the next Superman movie and the next Batman movie, except for a Wonder Woman movie being developed by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly).
