I forgive and forget because its better. If you say you forgive someone but when you get in a fight and you bring it back up you really didn't forgive them which means you're lying to yourself. Doesn't GOD forgive, but I know he doesn't forget but he doesn't stand guard or anything. He gives you multiple chances or else someone would die every time they sinned. this means every one would have to live by every single word in the BIBLE which no one can do not even a preacher, so next time you think of that question think of what GOD would do.

Forgive and never forget, otherwise whatever happened would be pointless. It was a lesson learned so always keep it in mind, but always forgive because you only live life once and it's good to be good with people.

Hiya, forgiving is noble, it is what we need to do if we expect others to treat us likewise, because no one is perfect. I've grappled with the forgiving and forgetting bit as an entity altogether but I think i've a slight modification and i'll tell you why.
its no problem to forgive, as a Christian i was constantly expected to forgive my (often abusive and bullying) older sister. She was horrid, but through patience and perseverance I managed to scrape through my thorough dislike of her, and today we can sit next to each other and get on without too much memory of the when's how's and why's of our disillusionment with each other. Forgetting is what's hard. Firstly, probably because i have a good memory too (dang) its hard to forget something when you've been wronged, it almost acts as a safety mechanism for you to recognize the symptoms of when you're going 'to be had'. so, based on that, i'd say, remembering is perfectly normal, however, harbouring and celebrating the bad feelings of that moment, is what needs to be forgotten.
And the moral is, whoever said forgiving and forgetting was the order of the day, was probably a saint? i dunno all the answers, but it helps me to cope when i remember why it is that i need to be cautious. hope this helps *wink*

I don't forgive and forget. I mean, duh, I forgive people. But I dont forget what they did to me. if somebody makes a bad impression me or does something that really hurts me, a simple sorry doesn't fix it all. They gotta prove to me that they're truly sorry. Not just say sorry and say, "I said sorry, geez." I keep my gurad up, but I'm not a grump.
I'm a pretty nice person, but I can't forget pain that easily like some people can. It just makes things get worse. It's really important to forgive, but just 'cause you forgive doesn't mean you have to FORGET all the pain they caused you.

If it is an insignificant wrong I forgive and forget! More serious issues are forgiven but rarely forgotten!!
I believe the Bible talks of forgiving your debtors as they forgive you, but I don't recall that you must forget!

Forgiving is a lot easier than forgetting.
There is a saying:
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
Can anyone actually NOT have their guard up after the trust has been violated? I doubt it.

I forgive and move along. No one forgets and they'd be lying if they say they do. I do offer people another chance (or 3rd or 4th or 5th), because I believe people are inherently good and need to be trusted in order to do good. I don't hold a grudge against anyone, ever.

Do you consider yourself to be a good person? Most people do. However, most of us differ as to the definition of "good." Let's see if you are! Have you ever lied (even once--fibs, white lies, etc.)? Ever stolen (anything--the value is irrelevant)? Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Have you ever looked with lust? If you have said "Yes" to these three questions, by your own admission, you are a lying, thieving, adulterer at heart; and we've only looked at three of the Ten Commandments. That's how God sees you. Nothing is hid from His holy eyes. The Bible says that God will punish all murderers, rapists, thieves, liars, adulterers, etc. He will even judge our words and thoughts. On Judgment Day, will you be found to be guilty or innocent of breaking His commandments? God's Law demands justice, and the penalty for sinning against Him is death and Hell. . There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. Where are your beliefs leading you too? You know where! For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Repent!
