Of course, I'm being silly - and yes, there are other people bidding on e-Bay right now. E-bay's business model depends on having several thousand people *per minute* bidding on thousands of auctions.
If you're asking about a specific item up for bid, there *should* be a 'bidding history' that will tell you if anybody else is bidding...
