There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......
(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.

Love is the most beautiful, enormous, smothering phenomenon in the world. Once you're into it, you'll feel it. You cannot miss it. It is beyond my vocabulary. Have you seen a movie or read a book that moved you entirely, that stirred you? If it was a love story and you were moved deeply, that's the closest you can get to the idea of love without being in love yourself.

To me love is caring for another person. If you love a person you ask them about their life not because you want to make small talk, you ask them because you are honestly interested. You want to share your life with them and you want them to share their life with you. Some people are not big on details when it comes to a loved one, not all people are that way. It depends on what kind of person you are. When two people care for each other they will do nice things for one another. I would call this a clear indication of love between two people.
I guess that love can be summed up in one phrase: sharing your self with someone other than you.

Love is a sacred emotion not intended to be toyed with. It can be beautiful once one learns how to use it for good and how the Lord intended for it to be used. But it can be a heart breaking disaster when it is used for bad and based on lust or greed or other unholy actions and feelings. NOT someting to be toyed but it IS soemthing that is absolutely amazing-amazingly powerful.
