start out light! You may not need a foundation, so you could get a powder, just to even out tone. Try mascara (I like L'Oreal featherlash) in a brown color, so it's not too strong looking. Use that with a little lip gloss and that should be plenty
If you want to learn more about how to apply makeup, try getting into some magazines like Cosmo Girl, or Marie Claire, they always have good tips in there

OK, first take a look at your face and if you have any blemishes, dark circles, etc. try some concealer or foundation. If your skin tone is even and your skin is nice, you don't need foundation so don't bother!! (I suspect you might not need it, since your avatar has a darker skin tone, and one of the big reasons us pale girls need foundation is redness). If you get shiny on your nose or forehead during the day, try some oil-blotting sheets or pressed powder.
If I were you, I would try things that aren't hard and are just this side of natural first. Try some mascara, for a makeup newbie Cover Girl's Lash Exact or Max Factor Lash Perfection is a good one to try since it doesn't clump (Either one is fine, they're made by the same company!). You'll probably want to use black.
Then, try some lip gloss if you want. Clear is fine, or something a little darker than the color of your lips. If you want to experiment with colors, Wet n'Wild has a cheap selection, and it's actually pretty good (and I'm a makeup snob).
If you decide you like this & get comfortable applying it, experiment with blush, eyeshadow, etc. If you don't have friends that can give you application tips, go to a department store, they can give you advice. Clinique is a good one if you're new to makeup because their "look" is a bit more fresh & natural and prices aren't as high as some of th others. I would be prepared to buy at least one product though, it's rude to take the time of the salespeople and then not buy anything! Some counters like MAC charge for these now, so in that case, buying anything is optional.
Anyway, have fun with it but don't go overboard. Nobody NEEDS makeup although some of us have a great time with it. I think you are right in that sometimes just using a couple of products and feeling like we look pretty will help our confidence with guys!

Don't over do it. Seriously, that's the biggest mistake you can make. I can't tell you exactly what to wear as I don't know your skin tone, face shape, etc but I'll tell you the basics.
I would recommend a mineral based powder for a foundation. It doesn't look makeup-y but it makes your skintone a lot more even. I would also recommend eye liner on the inside rim of your bottom eyelid, some mascasa (not a lot) and some neutral eye shadow. Don't go overboard or you're just look silly. Good luck. :)

well I'm 27 and have been wearing make-up for over 10 years, my tried and true advice is....LESS IS MORE! For real, a little blush, gloss and mascara is perfect. I really can't live without highlighter on my eyes too. Just a light shade of eyeshadow (white or cream) lightly applied below your brow and on the inside of your lids and your done! For a big dance or something special, a little liner on your top lid along the lash line (this will take some practice!)would be great. Also, get your eyebrows professionally groomed and ask them to teach you how, you'd be amazed of the results!

Try putting on a lil eyeliner not too much just a light line asnd a lil lip liner with lip gloss looks hot you really dont have to go all out eventually make up messe up the skin and you'll have to always wear it and you don't want that you can even try a lil mascara to accent your eyes but like I said don't get crazy!

Okay from what I've learned guys don't like A Lot of make-up. I just use black mascarra, light brown eye shadow (its more natural looking) and as for blush...i don't know your skin tone, but don't go with anything bright, just a shade darker, not bright, like pink though. I also use a black eye liner on the bottom, not on the top of the lid. To be safe don't wear lipstick. Just remember don't get too carried away, just go with the nutural colors.

well if u have any blemishes on your face use foundation to make it look less noticable and what u do with that is u take a little bit of it and dap it on the spot but rub it in real good so your face doesnt look orange and you should use a light blush to make u look cute and all u do is take a little brush (not for hair) and dap it into the blush and put it on below your eyes but not right under just put it on the bone below your eyes and you might want to put that over your face just to make it glow and use lip liner and u just go around the edge of your lips and then put some lipstick on your lips to fill it in after the lip liner but u need to find the right color and if u dont want to use lip liner then dont and use mascara and u just take it and brush your eyelashes with it and it adds a darker color (not a real brush) but not to much if u have dark eye lashes. then use eye liner and go around the edge of your upper eyelash line then after that use some eye shadow and go put it on above the eye liner!
i hope this helps!
good luck

when u first start wearing make up dont use a lot just a lil eye liner under the eye and a lil eye shadow. dont use a lot of mascara. dont use foundation it will make ur face look fake, nasty and dirty. After u have worn make up for a while u can get more experienced and start wearing more. hope it helps.

Ok, I'm 15 and been wearing make-up since i was 10.
Use mascara, by sweeping it over your eyes gently.
Use eyeshadow, by using a tool to aply it and put it on your eye lids and maybe where your eye is closest to your nose.
Use eyeliner, only if you want to....by putting it right above your eye, and then under your eyes, dont put too much or you'll look slutty or gothy.
Use concealer if you have acne, but only then.
Use lipgloss over lipstick, makes it look awesome.
Use blush to make your cheek bones look higher.
Only use blush for fancy events.
Only use lipgloss and lipstick if your not planning on kissing anyone.
GOOD LUCK....MESSAGE ME PLEASE.
