I despise the A/S/L, and I would never do that. I suppose years ago it was trendy greet others on-line that way. Now, it is simply RUDE.
When I see that, I automatically think someone is searching for a cyber-sex partner. He/She is probably looking for a response that matches their fantasy, nothing more nothing less. If they just wanted to chit-chat,....what the heck difference does it make how old you are or where you live? [Unless you are predator looking for kids,.....now that is completely different and very serious.]

Anyone who messages me like that is sure to get no response. That old asl crap was okay back in the day, but now it's just annoying. It also makes me think that the person isn't just looking to chat, they are more or less looking to hook up.
