It depends.

Anthropology is traditionally not a high paying area. Just getting a degree in anthropology does not necessarily mean you will be an anthropologist. You can go on to many different things in life. Having a MA is good, it shows you excel at academics, have educational drive, etc. Just be open to possibilities outside anthropology when you graduate.

Then again, I'm sure the curator of the Natural History Museum in Washington D.C. does fine financially. So you can set your sights high and try to excel, even in anthro.

Well, not necessarily, but you did pick a field where there aren't a lot of jobs available, so it will be harder to find one. Consider volunteering at a local museum to get your foot in the door. Make as many contacts as you can - then maybe when one of your contacts knows of an opening, you'll be considered.

Good luck.

You can teach and invest wisely, you can be a museum curator if you're in a large city. Invest other options with your school job placement office.

To put it bluntly....YES! you will wind up working nights in a wal-mart stocking the shelves and praying for someone to come and rescue you to a real job. or you will be assigned to the field to do studies on ancient garbage dumps in lebanon....
