In todays' world computer,video games and internet have made the children lazy and lethargic, they tend less to go out and play and prefer to stay inside.

Agree!! Another reason is driving too--urban sprawl has also created the need for kids to drive or ride for longer periods of time just to do simple things like going to school.

Health & Wellness is an 18 BILLION dollar business.

Parents have to lead by example and get up from the screens themselves. WHy wait for retirement to get out and "play". Even teenagers can find some enjoyment from playing a game or two with a parent.

BTW, with more and more reports of child abductions, parents shouldn't just rely on older siblings to watch the littler ones at the neighborhood park.

I agree because you can do so many things with a computer nowadays and playing outside is boring to some kids who would rather watch cartoons. I think if children had a balanced schedule of T.V. and Physical exercise, then kids wouldnt be so lazy.
Some parents just dont enforce health issues in the home.

it's true that kids are lazy these days, but it's not ALL the fault of video games and the internet- both can be very good for a devolping child. I think the fact that kids don't go out and play with each other anymore is because we live in a society where you're told to be afraid of everyone around you, so their parents (who both have to work 8 hour days to eek out a meager existance) don't let them go outside, because they're afraid.

Agree.I'm not a child and I'm lazy and lethargic and never go outside,except to smoke the cigarettes I don't have the willpower to give up because I don't have any hobbies to replace them.Yeesh.I think it's time to make some changes,come to think of it.

I agree. I have to ban my 5 year old from turning on anything electronic some days, just to get her outside for a while. She'd happily sit and play Xbox, GameBoy, computer games or watch tv/dvds all day every day if I let her.

I agree! Look at all the obese children running around! all they do is eat and stay inside! what happened to playing outside all day? parents have become ingorant and lazy.

Disagree. Parents should control their childrens habits when it comes to them playing on the computer or video games. So much time should be allotted for these pastimes. If you let them, they'll be on most of the day.

I think that while this is true, society is making a huge deal about it. I would think of worse things than a child who prefers to be in front of the computer and playing videogames.... such as joining a gang and terrorizing a neighborhood, for instance.
