They don't even have the correct skin colors there are more than just 5 shades in the world and I can't find mine here so I had to settle. How can we get yahoo to offer more avatar diversity?

I've wondered the same thing. I suppose I don't mind having my avatar being an idealized version of myself, but I would like to see variations, especially age.

I assume it's because the designers did not think there would be much demand for pictures that are 'real' -- perhaps they do not think the people who like more mature or heavier images are the people they wish to attract to their services.

I think we should let them know what we think.

Mine is very close to what I do actually look like, but I wish that it looked a bit more mature. They are fun to play with though. Sort of like shopping when you don't have money to really shop.

because of our society's beauty standards, our avatars are only able to look like the supposed "beautiful" people and not "real" people.

Good point, I totally agree, would love some real options. While these are cute, there is nothing real about them.
