for those of you not in the UK, or those of you who are in the UK and are lucky enough NOT to have a hosepipe ban, we really have a serious problem with our reservoirs in the south east. we have a very real and very serious water shortage....so please don't be so cynical with this question! this is neither grassing OR being nosy! it is genuine concern for those of us who are suffering and looking to the future...
regarding the question i would be very uncomfortable with reporting my neighbours. i would try to be brave enough to broach the subject with them......failing that if you really cannot do this pop an anonymous note through the door telling them your concerns.
good luck..

Have people got nothing better to do with their lives apart from making someone elses a misery!! Reporting someone for using a hosepipe, oh come on, how sad and pathetic. Now if it was something that was harming you or others, maybe then I would understand where you are coming from. My advice to you is "Get a life!!!"

Big brother society and now snitching neighbours the country is turning into a prison camp so much for free country and democracy.
Bigger question is why are you defending the water companies that have huge profits and invest so little in water supply?
We shouldn't be in this mess for starters, there is plenty of water but lack of investment in water supply with leaks per day wasting more water than all the garden watering and car washing put together in a week.
Don't be a neighbour who sits behind her curtains spying on people, it is not right and you should have more resentment for the wastage and lack of responsiblility the fat cat bosses of water companies have for keeping the country supplied. Profits to them come before supply. If I saw neighbours curtains twitching because they are being nosey, I'd be mad.

Please dont report them just try to drop it into conversation casually. Why do some neighbours feel the need to ''report'' other neighbours for silly little things all the time? Why would you have even taken any notice that they were using a hosepipe? Please stop curtain twitching because if you called the water company and told them this they would probably laugh at you. AND LEAVE YOUR NEIGHBOURS ALONE!!!!!!!

You stand on your doorstep and shout very loudly to everyone else : "Look everybody, soandso is using their hosepipe during a ban!" . Maybe that will make them understand????
Failing that dial 999!

I would only do this if I was sure that the water companies were spending as much money as possible fixing leaks in pipes and digging new reservoirs instead of paying out to their shareholders.
This is Britain we are talking about, not Egypt.

Stop being a busy body. The majority of society does not like people who complain like you. You mind the events that occur in your yard and let them take care of theirs. If they want to break the law then that's there own issue of integrity. I bet you were a tattle tail in school too when you were little. "Teacher, Teacher...Lucy's chewing gum"
