I'm an American living in Canada, I can't get over how much nastier politics has gotten in the US in last 6 or 7 years. Want proof? Ask a question on YA that is even remotely involved with politcs and sit back and watch the attack dogs from both sides pummel each other. Do people really think fighting like spoiled toddlers is going to win their side any points.... Calm and rational debate leading to comprise is what the governing system in the US was founded on. How did everday nobody's get so angry about issues that won't affect their day to day lives? I'm starting to believe that ignorance is better than biased half truths that people spew as knowledge today... please advise.

We are living through an interesting point in history for America. We have essentially won the cold war, and now we are faced with an obstacle that is seen to affect everyone, ie terrorism. Also there was something on TV a couple weeks ago on 20/20 where they were talking about how people are starting to live in areas where there are radical Republicans or Democrats and that the moderate republicans or democrats would start to go toward the radical side.
If that does really occur then the sheep people will continue to fight. I would like to say ignorance is never the best option and I hope people would start to take everything with reason and not emotion when it comes to politics.
I would also like to point out that when the founding fathers were making the constitution there was similiar bitter fighting though i would hope the people were much more educated then today's sheep.

Because I think that the Ds are &*%^*(%$ and they think I'm *%$%(&**).
When someone asks a reasonable question, designed to elicit information, I try to answer reasonably (though tongue-in-cheek as above).
When they say "Pity the poor HezBULLies" I tend to give them an answer guaranteed to tick them off. E.g.

i totally agree. I'm ignorant i guess i don't really know much about politics but ifthere's hardcore republicans and hardcore democrats they should just listen to eachothers ideas instead of just saying what they have to say and not listening to the other so maybe we can have just one happy medium? or something?
