I think gambling is the more terrible addiction. you say that pornography and the internet can affect relationships. But I'm going to tell you what is pornography made for. meaning the purpose. the purpose of porn is to teach you things. when you watch intercourse they teach you teqnique and positions. you hear people say that i got my own teqnique. they probably got it from a video they like. see but gambling is a form of entertainment. see if you go to a casino and say i'm going to only play with $500. if you lose all your money then you had fun. if you won money thats where you may start an addiction. you are going to put moe and more money into the casino. some may max out creditcard, lothers may do more. that fact of the matter is that porn is to teach and gambling can lose all your money. but if you set aside a set amount of money you want to gamble then o that but do not put more money in.

I would rather be addicted to gambling. Because, yes it is devistating financially, but it is something I would NOT be ashamed to talk about. And would be more apt to seek help. And with gambling you are only hurting yourself and those around you...the Casions will feel NO pain.
Porn is such an awful thing for those addicted to watching/looking at and those involved. Porn stars don't make THAT much money compared to those in a legitimate field. And if you do your research, you will find that there are very darn few (if any) porn stars who were not sexually abused as children, you find a lot of stars with learning disabilities and serious drug and alcohol issues. No health insurance and HIV is still an issue whether they will admit to it or not. It is not something i would want my money going to. Casinos can take care of themselves...porn stars can't.

To play devil's advocate: Porn. It trully can damage or least minimize the quality of relationship. What would make porn more dangerous is the level of secrecy. For example, lets say I have a gambling problem and experience finanical difficulties. THis is much easier to spot than say someone who must pleasure themselves 5-10 times per day via porn. If it is easier to spot it is obviously easier to treat/control. Porn addiction can effect relationships without the partner knowing. Sex may become less pleasurable without the visual stimuli, therefore increasing frustrations within the relationship. Also, treatment is much easier for gamblers. Gamblers Annonymous (like AA) is available in most larger cities. If unavailable it can be treated like any other addiction. Sexual addiction are real, but fewer resources and therapist exist who are comfortable treating this type of sexual obsession.

I've never been addicted to either, but I know someone who is hooked on gambling. It's actually a very sad addiction. It's filled with lies and betrayal, and scamming, and more lies. It's almost uglier than drug addiction. Porn? I'm not too sure about that one. I can't imagine how you would lose your home, relationship, etc. etc. over porn, but I suppose it's possible.
Take care.

I don't think Addiction applies to either. Addiction applies to a chemical dependency. Bad Habit applies more to gambling, like you said, people can lose everything they have worked for with it. Porno? I have never had a problem with it as long as the models are over 18 and participating voluntarily.

Gambling. After going through my ex-husband's very serious addiction to scratch-off lottery tickets,I would put up with porn any day.He went through thousands of dollars in just a few months, before we were married.I thought he got it under control, but it started up while we were married.I don't think he ever kicked the habit.I think families suffer either way,but I would rather put up with the porn and be able to pay the bills.

I believe that both are destructive behaviors as are all addictions. When you are addicted to something that means your whole life revolves around that activity. Chances are you will let your health go as well as your family or other relationships and quite possibly your career. Everything in moderation.
