Make sure you disconnect both positive and negative battery cables touch both cables together to get rid of static electricity and wait at least 45 min before disconnecting and removing the air bags.

pretty good job for a amateur, the drivers side isn't too bad but the passengers side needs to be changed with the dash pad. there is also an airbag module that must be changed. it is usually under the passengers seat, inside the center console, or
under the dash. there isn't much chance of it going off accidentally but why take the risk? take it to someone that is in the business, body shop or mechanics shop. a dealer would want to install new, that would probably cost more than the car is worth. used from a reputable auto salvage should be fine. i have replaces airbags in the past and later the cars crashed and have had no known problems with the bags not going off.

You don't yourself. One wrong move and the bag will blow as soon as you reattach the battery cable.
