This is what I found-
The medical term for "spitting up" is gastroesophageal reflux, or reflux. It happens when milk or solid food in the stomach comes back up into your baby's esophagus. The esophagus is a tube that joins the mouth and the stomach
Feed your baby by placing him or her in an upright position. If you bottle-feed you baby, burp him or her every 3 to 5 minutes. Avoid laying your baby down following a feeding.
Some babies spit up less if their formula is thickened with rice cereal. Ask your doctor if you can add 2 to 3 teaspoons of rice cereal to each ounce of formula. You might have to enlarge the nipple hole a little so the thicker formula will come out easily.
Some babies also spit up less if they are given less milk at each feeding, but are fed more often.

Hope it helps

Has your doctor tested him for Adid Reflux? If not they need to. It is not normal for a baby this age to spit up EVERY bottle. Also talk to his doctor about switching to a soy or Lactose-free formula. And the person below is TOTALLY incorrect. Unless your doctor tells you to and tell you how to mix the bottles, NEVER put cereal in the bottle. The baby can choke!!

Talk to your pediatrician about it. Babies that age should not be spitting up that much. He may need to have his formula changed to a Soy-based or a Lactose-free formula. He may have GERD or Acid Reflux, with causes spitting up. Don't let him sleep on his back, put him on his side when he is sleeping, to avoid drowning in spit-up. I have seen my own children stop breathing from their own spit-up. Don't leave him unattended at any time until you talk to his Dr. about it.

try a different formula..the formula is usually what causes it..its just not agreeing with his stomach..which is why he spits up.
i recommend nestle goodstart ..very easy for babies tummy.my daughter had the same problem..we switched from similac to nestle..and everything stopped. she never spit up again
hes Colicy..(spitting up constantly) is he gassy? constipated?
he could also be lactose in tolerant..which then he'd need soy.

This is a tough one cos it could be nothing to worry about or it could be something.
Some babies are just sicky but it could be an underlying problem with reflux or something similar. A heavier formula could help but generally your doc has to advise on this.
The best thing you can do is contact your Dr or Health Visitor.
And about the mess - have u tried muslim squares?

Some babies spit up no matter what you do. My daughter is four mths and she's a spitter too. I feel like my life revolves around laundry!!! (Her's and mine) I just automatically give people a burp cloth when they hold her!!

Sounds like your little one can't stomach the formula that you are feeding him... I went through the same thing with my daughter when she was a baby... try soya based formula... as he gets older you can add lactose free drops to his milk and leave it sit for 24 hours and that will cut down the sugar...... good luck..
