Well this has to be a trick question the answer is so obvious,
Saint Patrick Roy, also the greatest ever, however if Terry Sawchuck did not have all of his physical and emotional hangups and was not a Red Wing he may have gotten my vote. Nice to see a lot of comedians out there mentioning Brodeur, sorry I am laughing so hard, remember he may be the second best goal tender in the family. If you do not know what I am talking about you are blowing smoke and not a hockey fan

Since the question is for all time favorite and not necessarily the best, I will have to say either:
Ron Hextall - He had 100+ PIM in each of his first 3 seasons before calming down (although, he could never really be calm, could he?) Anyone who has seen him play can still hear his trademark "clanging" of his stick against the posts before all faceoffs
or
Tony Esposito - Chicago Blackhawks

Mike Richter. He was all about having class - not to mention the only goalie to be featured in a Wendy's commercial.
