Being a virgin at 16 only shows that you are a responsible person who has respect for their body. Being a virgin is nothing to be ashamed of. A know a guy who was a virgin until he married at age 26 and he had even been engaged before that.
Sex for sex's sake usually isn't all that thrilling. If there is emotion involved, it's a lot better. When the time and the person is right, you'll know it - don't let peer pressure push you into something you aren't yet ready to tackle.

I'm 17, so i'm only a little older than you so hopefully I can help.

How special a persons virginity is, is something that only you could answer. The first time I had sex, it was with my boyfriend who I had been seeing for about 5 months at that time, and I was happy that I shared that experience with him because it did in truth make our relationship stronger and I felt that it was something that I wanted to do with him. It wasnt such a momentous occasion when it happened, there were no candles or rose petals on the bed or anything, but that was because I knew that personally virginity wasnt such a big deal to me.

In my own opinion, being a virgin or being sexually active isnt such a big deal as many make it out to be. I'm dont follow a religion, I believe in sex before marriage, and I believe in being able to make your own decisions, so whether thats had an impact on my stance on virginity or not I dont know. You just have to ask yourself whether you want to have sex for the first time with a one night stand, a short-term boyfriend, or a long-term partner. I believe that you'll know at whatever moment it is that you want to have sex. It could be next week, next month, next year or never! But when you want to have sex you will. Like I said, I didnt really find it an issue, and I definitely dont think you should be self-conscious about it - it just shows that you're not throwing yourself in the path of anyone that comes your way and its an adult thought.

If I could give you any advice, consider the whole sitation before having sex, and that applies to anyone at any stage of sexual experience. I believe as long as you're happy then it would be the right decision.

ETA: having read some the answers again, its seems like they're telling you that you will undoubtedly get an STD or become pregnant when you have sex. Its possible, but with the right precautions that wont happen.

Nope.I'm 16 and a virgin and later in life when you settle down with a guy that you are engaged or married to he will be glad that you didn't sleep around like a lot of teens do or say they do.He will respect you for the fact that you didn't get any STD's and aren't passing them to him and possibly your kids in the future.Save it.I've had friends who has lost it at 14 and regret it now.And I have friends trying to rush into it, which makes them look even more immature.

If you are still a virgin its is the most wonderful thing ever... be proud of yourself and save your first time for the man you plan to spend the rest of your life with.. and by all means if you decide to go ahead and lose your virginity please make sure the guy wears a condom i sure would hate for you to get an aweful disease your first time out.

A 16 year old virgin is totally normal. You need to be proud of your decision to wait.

It's very wonderful. You're doing as God wants you to do. WAIT!! You should clap for yourself. But I can understand that you may be pressured to have sex because alot of your friends are telling you storys. Well, be you and wait until you feel it's right to loose your virginity.

I'm 17 and I've never even been kissed. There is no rush to lose your virginity. It may seem like everyone is going it, but that doesn't mean you have to
